Description:

The cracking appears in all types of road surface due to very diverse causes and with very varied forms. In this case, the study will focus on the cracking of pavements with bituminous mixes, flexible pavements (semi-rigid and semi-flexible), in order to deepen the knowledge of this phenomenon, such as its causes, its shape, its consequences, ...

After the development of a detailed state of the art, the main objective of the present investigation is the feasibility analysis of the reuse of polyethylene sheet waste from rafts as anti-reflection systems of cracks in asphalt pavements, studying the behavior of two interposition techniques, a geotextile and a polyethylene sheet (out of use), which are compared between them and with a reference firm section, which does not include interposition technique.

In view of the results achieved, it can be stated that the reuse of Reinforced Polyethylene Foils with Fibers from rafts is a new way of extending the service life of asphalt pavements and it implies an excellent opportunity to give value these residues, making it possible to obtain more economical and sustainable solutions to the process of fatigue cracking.
