Miguel Ángel del Val Melús


Biography

Civil Engineer (1981). 

University Professor at the School of Civil Engineering of the Universidad Politécnica of Madrid. 

He obtained his engineering degree in June 1981 and his doctorate degree in March 1985 at the abovementioned University.

He has always been related, both professionally and academically to roads, especially to pavement engineering (design, materials and conservation). He was appointed as professor in March of 1992, and between 2002 and 2009 he worked as Director of the Department of Civil Engineering-Transports of the aforementioned university. In 1997 he was appointed Visiting Professor of the Faculty of Exact Sciences, Engineering and Surveying of the National University of Rosario (Argentina).

He has worked as a consultant for the Spanish Government, for different regional and local administrations, for construction and civil engineering companies, and with toll road concession companies, both in Spain and abroad.

He has directed seven doctoral theses. He is the author or co-author of more than forty articles published in national and international magazines, a similar number of papers and communications in congresses, forty-five books and monographs, and six book chapters.
